Here is my first experience using openSUSE 10.3. First of all, thank you to all openSUSE Developer to build the best linux distribution (for me), and for kambing.vlsm.org who mirror the files, so I can downloaded it quickly.
After successfully downloaded, I directly burn the DVD and the language add-on CD, and install it on my Compaq Presario V3027TU, with Intel Core Duo [EMAIL PROTECTED], with 512 MB RAM. Installation took aproximately same time as consumed by installing openSUSE 10.2. As ussual, first thing after installed, I changed the start menu style from suse default to KDE-standard. Then, I want to know, if the compiz is now better than openSUSE 10.2. I opened YaST, and click /etc/sysconfig editor. While waiting for it, I clicked "my computer". I waited for minutes, and nothing happen. I click the close button unsucsessfully. So I pressed the magic button --> ctrl-alt-backspace. And.... the computer (keyboard, mouse) is now totally not responding. Ok, I restarted my computer using power button, and do other thing while waiting. When I look back to my computer, wow, it has been booted. Very fast. Now, I prepare my stopwatch, and restart again my computer. Nice. It just need 40 second to boot! It is nearly half from my openSUSE 10.2 which need more than a minute!!! Congratulation. openSUSE team has very very success to optimise this distribution. When I open a folder full with my photograph, it opened and created the thumbnail picture maybe 5 times faster than openSUSE 10.2. Wow, Very nice work. Next to try printer, and my Epson Stylus C87plus is known as Epson Stylus C87. Good. It was detected as Epson Stylus C80 in openSUSE 10.2. The print out is still a little bit too yellowish, but acceptable. It is the time to check, is my wireless lan switch will not crash my computer as my openSUSE 10.2. I turn off the computer, switch off the wifi, and restart. Bingo. It is not crashed. I can use my switch now. Thanks to openSUSE Developer. Ok, that is my first try report.
