In openSUSE 10.3 there are two PPD files for this printer:

/usr/share/cups/model/gutenprint/stp-escp2-c87.5.0.sim.ppd.gz
Epson Stylus C87 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.0.1 Simplified

and

/usr/share/cups/model/gutenprint/stp-escp2-c87.5.0.ppd.gz
Epson Stylus C87 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.0.1

The latter provides several controls to adjust the colors,
in particular for yellow:
StpYellowDensity/Yellow Density
StpYellowGamma/Yellow
StpYellowBalance/Yellow Balance

Perhaps is helps to adjust those settings?
