It is just a matter of preference between a grafical UI and a command
line UI when it comes to such common tasks.

GUI offers some things the CLI can't, e.g. you can easily select
packages to install while having their descriptions or available
versions and other info at hand). With zypper you need to zypper search,
zypper info, zypper search, zypper info, zypper install foo1 foo2, etc...

On the other hand CLI offers some things a GUI can't, e.g. if you know
what you want to install or remove, or you just want to check if a some
package is available zypper is the quickest way.

Then there are special use-cases where you e.g. don't have X installed
(servers), or you want to write a script for doing some package
management. Then it is time for a CLI.
