Hi Dennis,

If you're having problems with an openSUSE installation, the last thing you 
want to do is throw software into the mix that hasn't been specifically 
packaged for installation in the distribution. Doing so just complicates 
matters and defeats the rationale for running an 'rpm' based system... 
unless, of course, you're seasoned and knowledgable enough to install it in 
such a way that it doesn't affect or conflict with other packages.

In my experience, if you stick with the 'stock' and subsequently released 
openSUSE update packages, including those from alternate packagers 
like 'guru' and 'packman', you are much less likely to experience problems 
with mainstream software like Firefox.

Also, by taking this more conservative approach, in the event you *do* 
experience problems, the chances are greater that others here who are 
similarly affected can work with or advise you on how to proceed.

My recommendation would be to uninstall the generic Firefox, reinstall the 
openSUSE package and then try to work through the original problem with 
others here on the list.
