My suggestion is that it would default to NOT storing updates, but allow you to specify if, what and where you would like downloaded updates stored. <snip> I, and possibly many others in the world, do not have 'free' high speed internet connectivity and therefore would like to be able to keep the updates that are downloaded, in case a package is mistakenly uninstalled and needs reinstalling and updating.
