After so many days, so much frustration with "won't fix bugs" and so many experiments up and down various roads, how about going with the pure KDE/superkaramba eye candy for the time being? You will get a fair chance of enjoying true performance instead of playing around with ressource hungry "will sometimes be stable" feature rich crap.
