All original libs restored and tried. No different than before. Compiz will not even whimper with the original libGL.so.1.2 in place or libIndirectGL.so.1 in place. See confirmed Bug: 338947. All additional xorg 7.3 updates applied - no difference. Complete uninstall/reinstall of compiz - no difference. Bottom line (unless brilliance springs from thin air) is the xorg 7.3 change exacerbated the libIndirectGL.so.1 and libGL.so.1.2 bugs with respect to graphics function of the ati driver on the Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 series card rendering compiz useless on my laptop. That's progress for you. If anyone has any other ideas, please chime in. Else, I am pursing bug 340459 that hopefully will garner the combined help of ati with the problem.
