Thanks.
I could start audacity logging in as another user.
So something is wrong with my home folder/setup.
I have removed the old .audacity-data folder and an .audacity file. After this audacity asked what language to use but after this nothing happens. Where does audacity store its configuration or where can I find something in my home folder that can be related to audacity ? Thanks,
IG

What I would be doing in a case such as this is to totally uninstall - ie, totally *remove* - audacity from the sytem (thru Yast or smart, whichever one you are using), clean out any entries to it in your home directory, and then re-install it (Yast or smart or whatever). Run it and configure it.

Cheers.
