Exactly what I was looking for thank you!. Somewhere in recent months I read
I think on this list that packman was supposed to be a sufficient extra
repository, that suser was no longer necessary, but maybe I misread context
or something. :-p

I downloaded one of those kernel rpms and looked inside, and found smbfs.ko.
:-) Are there any drawbacks to using one of those kernels instead of the
official ones? o_O
