Hello list users:

I would like to create a real packman yast (susetags) source on
DVDs or CDs.
As the packman repository is ~ 8 GB I have to split the source
to parts to fit the DVD or CD.
I have downloaded the whole repo to my HD. I found the
openSUSE wiki article as a reference how to create the
repository:
http://en.opensuse.org/Creating_YaST_Installation_Sources

This article, however, does not explain how to make a source
spanning multiple media but I gave a try:
I made a 2 DVD source as follows:

1. I created a DVD dir with DVD1 and DVD2 subdirs and split
all the rpms into DVD1 and DVD2.
DVD1 has i386 i486 i686 and part of i586 dirs.
DVD2 has noarch and the remaining of i586 dir.

2. I copied into both directories these files
content
content.asc
content.key
gpg-pubkey-1abd1afb.asc

3. I copied only into DVD1:
setup
media.1 dir

4. I copied media.1 dir into DVD2 and renamed it to media.2
I edited the media.2/media file to contain 2 instead of 1 as the
media number.

5. I created a directory.yast file in every directory and
subdirectory.
6. I ran mk_listings script in the DVD dir for making
ARCHIVES.gz, INDEX.gz and ls-lR.gz.
I copied ARCHIVES.gz into DVD1, INDEX.gz and ls-lR.gz into
both DVD1 and DVD2.
7. I burned DVD1 and DVD2 on DVDs.

The DVD source works except of YAST does not handle it as a
multiple media source.
It only asks for DVD1 and I have to guess which DVD to insert
of the two.
If I had eg 10 CDs it would be a pain to find it out which one is
needed.
Thansk in advance,
IG
