What error are you getting when the DVD  mount is attempted?

Try

wodim dev=<your DVD device name > -atip

with the DVD in drive at CLI and see what you get...

also try

wodim dev=<your DVD device name > -prcap

To find out what the device reports it is capable of doing.

I have had issues with readers not identifying the FS on the media and
having to force a mount with the -t option in the past.
