Clayton, I have downloaded skype 2.0.0.27-suse i586 rpm from the site you mentioned but still no joy. I now realise two things: my ignorance of how Linux works, and that my computer might not be up to the task. The computer is an old Pentium III with a 1 GHz Celeron CPU.
