There are some free browse for linux file systems under windows ... Not that easy. We are not talking disk drives but flash ROMs. These can be reprogrammed only a limited amount of times, as the bits wear off at every write operation. To distribute this wear the memory cards do not just have the memory but also a controller with some software in it. It is this software that emulates a FAT filesystem. You would have to spread a new generation of memory cards, USB sticks etc. There is no doubt this will come. On the other hand I think Tomtom will not take the lead here.
