Hello,

the OpenVAS developers are happy to announce the first release candidate of 
the new OpenVAS Compendium.

The LaTeX source code as well as a PDF and a HTML version are available for
download at:

The online version will be updated shortly as well and is available at:
  http://www.openvas.org/compendium/openvas-compendium.html

A number of sections have been extended and updated, especially the sections
regarding the communication protocol and the integrated tools.

The PDF version grew by 14 pages and is now at 101 pages.

Main changes are:

* More Knowledge Base entries have been collected from legacy documentation 
and added to the Compendium.
* Documentation for the new and improved OpenVAS Transport Protocol (OTP) 
which is used in OpenVAS from release 2.0-beta1 onward has been added.
* A chapter describing the location of the various files belonging to OpenVAS 
and their purpose has been added.
* A section regarding the integration of ovaldi and OVAL definitions has been 
added.
* The documentation for SLAD has been extended.
* The chapter on planing OpenVAS use has been extended.
* The installation instructions have been made more generic.
