Hi all, I'm just starting to play with openvas, and I'm a bit confused by all the different components and how they fit together. These seem pretty basic, but I looked through docs and didn't see anything like an overview.
Basically, I'm trying to understand what the components are, how they all fit together, and which ones I actually need. >From what I've been able to figure out, openvas-libraries are the shared libraries and openvas-scanner is the scanning daemon. I have not been able to tell if openvas-client is an optional tool to display things, or if it's the required and only interface to use the scanners. I think it's required, but before I go building it's large set of dependencies, I'd love confirmation. I can't really find mention of what openvas-manager or openvas-administrator are. Are there docs I should be reading?
