I tried running as you suggested below:

[root@box sbin]# ./openvasmd --update
[root@box sbin]# ./openvasmd --rebuild
[root@box sbin]# service openvas-administrator restart
Restarting openvas-administrator (via systemctl): [ OK ]
[root@box sbin]# service openvas-manager restart
Restarting openvas-manager (via systemctl): [ OK ]
[root@box sbin]# service openvas-scanner restart
Restarting openvas-scanner (via systemctl): [ OK ]
[root@box sbin]#

Then I tried to access the web portal at port 9393, which is open via iptables. It comes up with "problem loading page"

Then I run the openvas-check-setup.
ERROR: The number of NVTs in the OpenVAS Manager database is too low.

This install seems to be going in circles...

I installed it via Yum from the Atomic repository onto Fedora 18.
Is there another distribution and install method that is preferred?

I would really like to try this out.

Thanks again!
Ron

Quoting clems <[email protected]>:

Hello,

Try to:
openvasmd --update
openvasmd --rebuild

And restart all services:
openvas-administrator
openvas-manager
openvas-scanner

Hi,

reads like you did everything correctly.

Have you checked the log file that is produced
by the check script for any clues?
