Apparently I missed the "s" in https. I'm sure that was in the instructions. Sorry about that.
openvas-check-setup reports version 2.2.1. That's what came with the packages from atomic. Is it a standalone shell script? Can I replace the one in the binary package with a newer version from a source package?
