Hello,

this is an IMPORTANT notice to everyone who uses the "SVN trunk" version
of OpenVAS. It is also relevant later on for everyone switching
a OpenVAS-9 setup to the next generation.

As you know there are quite a number of name changes ongoing in trunk.
Most are already done.

But there remains one last big change where you need to manually
copy files before starting your services again.

We have scheduled this SVN commit to

  Thursday, August 3rd 2017.

What do you need to do?

Please watch out for the commit to module "gvm". The ChangeLog
entry will show you it is the one.

You can also just wait until we send a reply to this email that we
are done with it.

Before you start to build and install this update, first stop
all of your OpenVAS daemons (openvassd, gvmd and gsad).

Then follow the guide in section "Migrating to Version 8.0"
of the INSTALL file of module "gvm".

Then you can can build, install and start the services again.

What happens if you miss to do the above?

You will get a fresh setup with an empty database and default
congfigurations.

Your old data are not lost. They still are located in the old
location.

You can stop the services, delete the fresh setup and then
do the copying as described above.

All the best

Jan
