I have had to do this in the past as well, I regenerated the certs (after
stopping openvas manager and scanner process from running) with:

# openvas-manage-certs -a -f -q

Subject: [Openvas-discuss] 503 - Service temporarily down

Hello.

I have had this installation running a long time on CentOS 6.4 but
recently when trying to run a scanning task I get the error in the
subject line. I have tried restarting all the services.
The openvas-manager service is running. When I logout, i see the
following message in the login dialog: "OMP service not started."
Lastly, I looked in the /var/log/openvas/openvasmd.log:

lib serv:WARNING:2017-09-05 18h59.43 UTC:8252: openvas_server_verify:
the certificate is not trusted
lib serv:WARNING:2017-09-05 18h59.43 UTC:8252: openvas_server_verify:
the certificate has expired
event task:MESSAGE:2017-09-05 18h59.43 UTC:8252: Task
ee94f441-b316-4c53-baa9-afecbfabb9d2 could not be started by admin

How do I renew the certificate?

Thanks.
