Vendor changes notwithstanding, all versions of openvpn from 2.2.x to 
2.4.x should interoperate nicely.

In some cases, issues arise due to newer SSL libraries - like, if the
E4200 generates a MD5 signature for its certificate, newer clients will
not accept this without config changes (because SSL libraries consider
MD5 grossly insecure nowadays).  But in general, you should be fine.
