I have thought about this, but I find it too intrusive to do on a
"default" install.
We could offer it as an extra submodule? checkbox item? that users
could activate if they have installation problems
[ ] remove all existing TAP adapters before upgrading
but if we can get identifiers done, this should not even be necessary.
