Txs David!
We discussed the pros and conns pretty lengthy a few months ago.
OpenEJB has a great community and is well established. Plus, I think
we have to work together pretty tight together with the OpenEJB
community.
Otoh, OWB is so much more than 'just' EJB support, which justifies
being a TLP imho.
I would never describe OpenEJB as just EJB and I'm sure you would
never describe OWB as just 299. Ultimately, I think the goals are the
same and I can guarantee the overlap between these two specs will
continue increase significantly over time.
It's hard to describe the difference between EJB and 299 without
resorting to painting EJB as a heavyweight technology for very complex
problems. That's an outdated perspective that shouldn't be promoted.
EJB 3.0 brought annotation based component definition, dependency
injection, and interceptors to Java EE. 299 takes all of that to the
next level. It is a new level, yes, but not a new building. In time
as 299 wants more enterprise features and EJB continues to get
simpler, there simply won't be any difference between them.
But I can understand and respect the desire to have one's own space in
which to innovate. Space is good and innovative things do come from
solving the same problem in a different way. That has certainly been
my experience.

+1 from me. If there isn't
unanimous and enthusiastic support for joining the OpenEJB
project, than OpenWebBeans is probably better off as a TLP.

Hi folks,
There were some discussions related with graduation of
the OpenWebBeans podling from incubator. Last time we
discussed graduation, main barrier is the lack of community
around it. Over couple of weeks, we have diverted and
increased our community around the project.
Generally, it seems that community would like to
graduate as a TLP. To do formal process, I
would like to start a VOTE for graduating OWB as TLP.
Please cast your VOTEs here. VOTE is open for 72
hours.
[-1] Do not graduate as TLP
[0 ] Do not care TLP or not
[+1] Graduate as TLP
This is my +1;
Thanks;
