I tried daemon-kit the other night, but it is very much behind
everything. I supplied one patch
(https://github.com/kennethkalmer/daemon-kit/pull/35) to get the gem
to build, but the default stub outs are also broken.

I wanted an AMQP daemon, and it to is also way behind, still requiring
'mq' and wielding MQ with lots of necessary warnings.

You might want to reconsider usign deamon-kit (or, if you have the
time, fork it and patch it)
