just to verify this, i started with a "make distclean", selected all
packages, then "make package/symlinks".  at that point, the directory
"feeds/packages" now has that useless symlink

  packages -> ../feeds/packages

again, it's not hurting anything, but it's clearly not being terribly
useful either.
