Madwifi has a major problem with 802.11a sensitivity that makes it
pretty much useless for long links.
(the entire sorry tale can be seen in this bug :
http://madwifi.org/ticket/705)

I'm wondering if there is any prospect of making a 'fixed' madwifi that
is compatible with OpenWrt. This appears to be problematic because
the fix made to openwrt is at present only in their 0.9.4 release, and not
in the trunk releases used in OpenWrt. Furthermore, it isn't a simple case
of patching the fix into the trunk code because it depends on HAL behavior
that is not present in the HAL version used by the trunk madwifi code.
This implies that it would be necessary to build a 0.9.4 version of madwifi
for OpenWrt. This in turn looks tricky because many of the patches
OpenWrt applies to madwifi do not apply to the 0.9.4 code.

Has anyone else done battle with this ? Any thoughts ?
Right now my best option is to switch to Mikrotik :(

Thanks for your time.
