Hi Guys.
I have a IXP platform which I have openwrt. chip-info (0x168c : 0x0027).
I have been trying ath9k driver on it and it worked pretty fine with
some pretty annoying bugs recently.
now I want to try some custom drivers from atheros (fusion) and see if
I can find a performance boost/loss.
I build of simple wireless setup with basic rootfs and linux kernel.
I am using atheros fusion dirvers and below is version info of driver
printed when loading individual modules.
Please let me know if I can find a better version of these sources. I
don't know if I am using really old stuff??
ath_hal: 0.9.17.1 (AR5212, AR5416, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413, RF5413,
RF2316, RF2317, DEBUG, REGOPS_FUNC, WRITE_EEPROM, 11D)
wlan: 0.8.4.2 (Atheros/multi-bss)
ath_rate_atheros: Copyright (c) 2001-2005 Atheros Communications, Inc,
All Rights Reserved
ath_dfs: Version 2.0.0
Copyright (c) 2005-2006 Atheros Communications, Inc. All Rights Reserved
ath_dev: Copyright (c) 2001-2007 Atheros Communications, Inc, All
Rights Reserved
ath_pci: 0.9.4.5 (Atheros/multi-bss)
DFS min filter rssiThresh = 18
DFS max pulse dur = 131 ticks
wifi0: Atheros 9160: mem=0x48000000, irq=0 hw_base=0xd0860000
The drivers bring the chip and AP radio is very unstable. It shows up
under 'iwconfig' but NO radio signal.
#iwconfig ath0
ath0 IEEE 802.11ng ESSID:"Atheros_XSpan_2G" Nickname:""
Mode:Master Frequency:2.417 GHz Access Point: 00:C0:02:12:34:56
Bit Rate:auto Tx-Power:18 dBm Sensitivity=1/3
Retry:off RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:off
Power Management:off
Link Quality=0/94 Signal level=161/162 Noise level=161/161
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
none of my clients seem to find the signal though.
Now, I am at a point where is it nothing other the driver that I start
to suspect.
I have tried asking on IRC and I was told fusion(ath srcs we have) is
old than carrier(new one).
I am using a Atheros(9160 + 9106) MINIPCI chipset.
Any pointers for patches or missing radio signal would greatly help.
Thanks,
Mukund
