My alix2 (an Alix 2D13), is running the stock tinyBIOS:

The Soekris net4521 has its stock comBIOS:

I have tried booting the net45xx image on the Alix (there are some
ignorable serial bitrate differences), but it seems to do the same
thing the alix2 image does. I see the Grub2 menu, then the countdown
timer expires, the screen blanks, and I see "Booting OpenWrt" plus two
newlines and stops.
