I can only guess as to what specifically he is talking about but CAF stands for Code Aurora Forum (codeaurora.org). See their "About" page for what this exactly is.
QCA maintains their own version of OpenWrt. It's quite a good source for information on new QCA hardware and how to interface with it. So there might be some code there that QCA officially contributed that supports the advanced features of the AR8337N.
