Hey Rich I'd love to help write an explanation and the steps required to convert a swconfig setup to DSA. I will start working on the draft. It should encourage people to upgrade to 21.02 without worrying about losing their current VLAN setup.
I have a good understanding of swconfig and DSA switch configuration, so I want to make a migration script to convert swconfig configuration to DSA. If anyone knows scripting and would like to help, please let me know. Let's make it happen as a team effort. I suspect the script will be supposed to read the contents of /etc/config/network on OpenWrt 19.07 or older and convert the switch configuration to DSA. Let's say we wrote a script that takes 19.07 network config and outputs one with DSA configuration instead, how do we implement it in the image that, after upgrade, it will ask the user to convert the swconfig configuration to DSA? Cheers.
