I suggest you could start with carrying Ansuel's patch upstream, it's not uncommon for people to submit work done by others as long as you fully understand what is being done, this is not a problem. In general, as most of the changes are related to the mt7530 it would anyway be the best to discuss everything on the netdev kernel mailinglist, OpenWrt is by far not the only user of that driver and development happens upstream.
