#17682: sysupgrade doesn't report bad blocks on upgrade

I'm using the EFF Open Wireless firmware, and one of their developers
encouraged me to report this upstream here.

My hardware has lots of bad blocks, including in /rom, yielding dmesg
 output like this:

[ 584.835937] SQUASHFS error: Unable to read page, block 74a4c6, size
 150f8
[ 585.824218] SQUASHFS error: xz_dec_run error, data probably corrupt
[ 585.832031] SQUASHFS error: squashfs_read_data failed to read block
 0x7add3e
[ 585.835937] SQUASHFS error: Unable to read fragment cache entry
 [7add3e]

Yet, sysupgrade completes without error and reboots. Shouldn't it discover
 issues like this?
