There's a typo in your sysupgrade line, a dash instead of a slash.
It should be

root@OpenWrt:~# sysupgrade -v /tmp/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-wr841n-v9
-squashfs-sys
}}}
instead of
{{{
root@OpenWrt:~# sysupgrade -v /tmp-openwrt-ar71xx-generic-wr841n-v9
-squashfs-sys
}}}
To get luci on the 841n you'll need to use a BarrierBreaker 14.07 image or
build one yourself with luci included. There isn't enough space right
now/anymore on 4MB devices to do a snapshot with luci installed through
opkg. See [ticket:14482 14482]
