Scripts should not process uci files directly but use the proper
/lib/functions/uci.sh api which handles quote variations correctly.
Your messed up configuration is not due to syntactic changes but due to
semantic errors. For example it makes no sense to attach a wireless
interface to both lan and wan networks, that is the most likely reason of
your problems.
