yes you are spot on.
i have the atom n280 board. its the hpthinpc t5745, I compiled the driver
in archlinux then copied it to my pc running openwrt barrier breaker. the
problem with that is i had to boot up openwrt with the mainline driver
then rc.local my compiled driver after system booted. now i have changed
to chaos and i am having difficulties compiling it in arch again to suit
the new kernal.
