ar71xx ath9k always was/is slow since years, sadly. I am using a Netgear
WNDR3800 with 5Ghz (no other 5Ghz wifi in range) and the transfer rates
fluctuate very badly. Sometimes it works well and I get about 23MB/s,
which is really good for a 300mbit wifi in my oppinion, but it is not 100%
stable, it can get "stuck" somehow and then the bandwidth varies between
12 and 18MB/s. I also have problems using a permanent stream of data, for
example when streaming games via Steam In-Home Streaming, leading to
stuttering and packet loss.
