I can confirm this issue when using an Edimax EW-7612UAn (7392:7822) USB
Device.
The kernel modules get loaded, the phy show's up, but the led on the
dongle does not light up and I start a scan in luci or via iw scan the
router hangs. The log looks similar to the one in comment:3.
Installing kmod-usb2, kmod-usb-ochi and kmod-usb-uhci does not seem to
help.
The device works fine on arch-linux.
OpenWRT Release 15.05 on TL-WR1043nd v.2
