I've got two different pieces of wrt hardware. a Linkysys wrt54gl and
a wrt54gv4. The use cases are similar in both. both are configured
to function as access points. However, the details of each's
configuration are a bit different, and beyond the scope of this
initial post. I will post or pastebin detailed configurations if
they're deemed necessary. Both are running openwrt brcm 2.4 kk 8.09.
Both are connected to a separate switch, which is in turn connected to
a dedicated linux based router. Both have wifi enabled, are using PSK
and the same key, but different channels and SSIDs. When I connect to
the wrt54gv4 over wifi, all the connections are.. slow. browsing the
internet takes 10 seconds for a page to start loading, and ssh
connections are laggy at best. In contrast, when I connect to the
wrt54gl, everything is zippy and responsive. ssh connections respond
instantaneously, and pages are up before I can take a sip from my
beverage of choice. My question is thus:
How can I either fix this in software or confirm it as being a hardware problem?
