My first thought is that a usb port that does not supply power is a usb B end. USB is not symmetric and you can't connect two USB devices with B ports and expect anything to work. There must be a computer with usb A ports in between. But then again, I don't really know anything about USB so maybe somebody will chime in and correct me and I can learn something.
