Fiddling with an older install of AA on a TP L-1043ND I must have
managed to do something to render it unreachable.

I can no longer reach the OS at the IP address I had it on. Not by
browser or by ssh.

I don't think the actual hardware reset button can effect owrt at
least I see no change after pressing and holding it a few times.

In this situation is there any trick way to get to the os and try to
clean up whatever I did?

If it helps... I think I might have set owrt to dhcp for IT'S OWN
address thinking I was doing something else.
Is that even possible?

I remember seeing something showing a static address for something but
thinking it was something I had done by accident... I changed it
without looking very closely at what it was.... yeah I know... quite
the meathead...

If that is even possible to do I guess it might at least narrow down
the possibilities as to the possible DHCP addresses it might be given.

One final proof that I am in fact quite a great foolish dolt...:

If above is possible (setting the router to dhcp for its own lanside
address) ... if the router was then disconnected from the wan side
incoming, would it retain the last dhcp address it got while I walk
thru the possible addresses on an ethernet wire to my laptop?
