I have installed a self-compiled Chaos Calmer on a Mikrotik RB951g-2hnd.

It is intended to be used as a openvpn-client for home-work, to be placed behind the normal home-network.

If there is a cable in the wan-port, it takes about 7minutes 30 seconds, from power on to it tell, it has booted with a beep.

Without a cable in the wan-port it only takes 8 seconds until the same beep.

If I put the cable in the wan port after it has booted, it takes just 8 seconds until wan-connecction is up, and a client can ping through the router.

Wan is normally configured with dhcp, but it does not make a faster boot, if wan is a static address. I have not found anything in the logs, that has given me a clue to, what is taking all that time (but that might be me not understandig the log.

An suggestions on, what to do ?
