Hi Markus,
this sounds like the OpenXPKI Daemon is not running or some permissions
are wrong.
Please check if the openxpki daemon is running (openxpkictl status) and
if the logfile for the webserver (/var/log/openxpki/webui.log) exists
and has permissions to be written by the webserver.
If both is ok, check the webui.log or the apache error.log for further
messages.

I've been trying so set up an openxpki server (Version (core): 1.19.5)
under debian (Version 8.9.). So far I followed the quickstart guide on:

I have concluded all the major steps and was able to publish
certificates and get the openxpki service to run without any errors
using the command openxpkictl start.
Unfortunately whenever I try to access the web ui (delivered with the
install package) through http://myip/openxpki I get an error reading:
"Application Error The server did not return JSON data as expected.
Maybe your authentication session has expired".
Until now I tried reinstalling the whole package and setting up the
system entirely new but this didn't help. Also I double checked the
language settings (set to en_us.UTF-8) as well as trying to find the
logs to this error, unfortunately I couldn't find any or the log data
was deprecated. As I'm very new to the openxki tools I would need some
guidance on how to fix this particular error.
