XEP-0198 is pretty widely implemented and solves a real problem and
was advanced to Draft 4 years ago. If the server code you're using
doesn't implement it, bang on the developers or switch to a different
codebase. :-)

I think my concern about migrating to another daemon is getting the same (or more) feature set and the ability to migrate rosters.

There used to be an ancient site comparing various features of XMPP servers, but it's terribly out of date. Is there anything more recent?
