Hi, With our first release almost out of the door (thanks Atgeirr!), I think that there finally is time to deal with some meta issues. One of these is the website: The website is the first impression a potential user gets of the project, so I think that it should be rather good. IMO its currently doing quite well in some respects:
- The principle design and layout is simple, nice and functional - The main content (what OPM is, links to the mailing list, screenshot gallery) is already on the site Having said this, there are a few weaknesses IMO: - Currently there's no 'download' link (that's what most people look for at first glance) - The tutorials and the wiki are still not linked (although at least the tutorial part will be hopefully changed before the release) - The news section tends to be a bit stale - There is no real logo for the project as a whole and for the individual modules - Each module should probably get an individual page which describes it - The bugtrackers are too hard to find. also, there should be an explaination that each module uses its own issuetracker. Some items (e.g. a more active news section) just require a bit of additional awareness of the developers, for others (e.g. bugtracker links, logos) I'm not really sure what to do about. Are there any plans or options? Especially: do we need a "real" logo and if so, how can we get it? cheers Andreas -- Andreas Lauser Department of Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems University of Stuttgart Pfaffenwaldring 61 D-70569 Stuttgart Phone: (+49) 711 685-64719 Fax: (+49) 711 685-60430 www.hydrosys.uni-stuttgart.de _______________________________________________ Opm mailing list [email protected] http://www.opm-project.org/mailman/listinfo/opm
