You can make an reasonable profit by selling services around Open  
Source software such as Linux, MySQL, Postfix, etc. You can  
potentially charge more for services around your own Open Source  
software because you're the recognised experts, but not that much more  
actually... Then you have to fund the development team which is  
expensive. The numbers don't always add up which is why so many  
Commercial Open Source companies have several versions of their  
software with different pricing models. I'm in agreement that some of  
these models are more in the spirit of Open Source than others.

An alternative is that the Opsview development team is comprised of  
volunteers, then we don't have to pay them and we can all make enough  
money from services, since the software comes free.
