Hello,I was wondering whether there are any people out there who could offer me
some more advice on setting up opsview-core/base/perl/agent on ubuntu

Thanks Duncan - I've tried to install opsview-agent with core perl and base too
on Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 but I've only been running into problems.
First of all if I use Lenny's apt from Debian, only opsview-agent is available,
the rest are not. If I use ubuntu hardy 8.04 apt all opsview packages are there.
However I had to manually install libltdl3 from hardy's archived packages as it
doesn't come with Jaunty anymore (the replacement doesn't satisfy opsview).
Then I got stuck with perl issues when trying to install opsview-core:
New install - prompting for new database passwords
Database opsview detected - upgrading ...
/usr/bin/perl: symbol lookup error:
/usr/local/nagios/perl/lib/i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi/auto/DBI/DBI.so:
undefined symbol: Perl_Tstack_sp_ptr
dpkg: error processing opsview-core (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 opsview-core
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I read somewhere that it's probably because Jaunty's perl scripts are different.
So has anyone actually managed to install opsview on Ubuntu Jaunty or even
Intreprid?
Finally you mentionned I could recompile from source code but debian/ubuntu
doesn't read .rpm so I'm not sure where else I can get source code.
Thanks for your help

need to install the whole opsview I know that. I read that there is supposed to
be an opsview-agent package for ubuntu but I cannot see it using
http://apt.opsview.org/opsview2/
There should be an opsview-agent package - I will investigate and fix this.
I'll also review our docs in this area to see what needs to be done.
Where can I find it? Do I only need to install the agent? Is the core or base
required? Any documentation would be grately apreciated.
To monitor a server you only need the agent package - base, core, perl, reports
and web are only required on the master server
I would also like to know when opsview 3 will be available for the later
distributions of Ubuntu as the latest one for Hardy 8.04 is a year old and we
can't even download the source for debian/ubuntu based OS!
Even though the agent is a year old, it is still valid. - we have made no
changes to it for some time. We do have a 32 and 64 bit Jaunty agent in the 3.0
repo which is essentially the same agent as the other Ubuntu agents (made
available during 3.0.4 release).
The agent code is currently stored in an internal code repository - during the
3.1 dev cycle I hope to include the agent code in opsview-base so it can all be
made public, have more regular builds and have less duplicate code about the
place (this is what we do with RedHat rpms).
