I would like to mention that I have a master / slave that are on
different OS's. The way I get around the updating slave from master
is I make a backup of the binaries (particularly the check scripts
and bin folder) I then run the update and after the slave has the
newest code, I replace the binaries with the ones I backed up. I
also update the binaries as if that system was a master, I also run
a testing system that is on the same OS as my slave, so I can always
copy the binaries from that system to the slave if needed.
Works for us. Until I can either move the master or slave to the
same OS as the other.
Interesting technique. Obviously you are free to do this, but its not
a supported/tested configuration, so you may hit issues.
Having said that, if there's anything we can add to the current
process that doesn't break existing functionality but will help with
your setup, we will consider it.
