This is an IT Business Analyst, but the candidate MUST have experience working with variable annuities within a financial/insurance-based company. (please ensure experience is well-documented in the resume)* *Position Summary:* The Business Analyst Professional works with stake holders from all business units and related third parties to define and document business processes and software requirements for technology initiatives. The Business Analyst Professional is an advocate for the business areas developing business requirements through clear and accurate elicitation. The Business Analyst Professional must build a bridge of understanding between the business and IT areas to enable robust technology solutions that are capable of meeting the most important business needs. The Business Analyst Professional demonstrates a breadth and depth of experience and knowledge of systems and best practices through their work in multiple business areas and domains. The Business Analyst Professional demonstrates strategic thinking based on a big picture view of the organization. Recommends solutions that are for the betterment of the organization as a whole. *Role and Responsibilities* 1. Analysis & Solution Definition: Analyzes and documents current business processes, recommending business process improvements where appropriate, and developing the business and functional requirements necessary to ensure technical solutions meet the growing needs of the organization. Writes, reviews, and edits requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solutions. 25% 2. Problem Solving: Identifies critical issues with ease. Exhibits confidence and an extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business problems. Pushes creative thinking beyond the boundaries of the existing industry practices and user mindsets. Applies proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate IT processes through careful testing in order to maximize the benefit of business investments in IT initiatives.25% 3. Facilitation and Presentation: Facilitates meetings, workshops, process diagramming sessions, Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions, and requirement review walkthroughs. Prepares and delivers presentations to communicate and educate. Prepares and delivers training which may include documentation, presentations and hands-on system, functional and/or application training. 15% 4. Methodology & Best Practices: Works to develop methodology and discipline across the Business Analysis practice. Contributes to project plans. Communicates and applies project standards. Coordinates resources in accordance with project schedule. Leads cross functional business process re-engineering, promotes continuous improvement efforts and works to ensure improvement efforts align with company objectives. 10% 5. Professionalism/Leadership: The Business Analyst Professional must establish a high standard of professional ethics, behavior and work activities in their role. Build, foster and maintain collaborative relationships with the Business community, the other Business Analysts, Quality Analysts, Process Analysts, Software Developers and Project Managers to ensure project implementations result in high quality solutions. The Business Analyst Professional is an agent of change and facilitates the process of innovative change within the organization. 20% 6. Time Management: Works to ensure time is being effectively managed by conscious control of the process of planning and exercising the amount of time spent on specific activities to increase effectiveness, efficiency and productivity. Delivery of all work needs to be accurate and on time. 5% *Qualifications and Education Requirements* *(Distinguishing Characteristics)* Professional qualifications as evidenced by a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Quantitative Analysis, or Computer Science or at least 10 years of practical business experience in related work. Appropriate business experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree. FLMI Level 1 industry certification expected within one year and course work toward the full FLMI designation is desired. Course work toward other industry certifications is expected and encouraged.
