Quality Assurance Engineer
Title: Senior QA Engineer
Job description: In this role, you will take primary
responsibility for the definition and implementation of the QA and Release
Engineering processes
in a financial software organization. You will work with the
other competency groups to ensure quality principles are integrated in the
full software
development life cycle. This position will require regular
hands-on work in addition to policy development.
Responsibilities Include:
Implementing proper QA methodologies, implementing a
predictable build schedule for all applications, providing input into QA's
role
in the software development life cycle.
Testing, analysis, and troubleshooting of high-profile
financial applications deployed on Linux and Windows.
Writing, reviewing and implementing test plans and test
cases.
Assist in creation of automated test scripts when
required using test automation tools. Authoring of custom test scripts when
necessary
using a variety of tools.
Use of bug tracking systems to communicate software
defects to engineering personnel in a clear unambiguous manner.
Assisting and expanding unit and integration testing
(JUnit for Java code, etc.) within engineering by creating and maintaining a
dedicated function as part of the QA team.
Continuing to ensure that the company as a whole
understands the role of QA in an engineering organization, including both
its
importance and its limitations.
Minimum Qualifications
4 years of experience in software QA/testing.
Experience in QA as applied to Java applications, and
networking.
Previous experience with test automation tools such as
Rational Robot, WinRunner, Silk, JUnit, Clover, or others.
Very strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analysis
skills.
Refined proficiency at precise written and verbal
communications.
Solid understanding of the software development
lifecycle: Specification/Design/Implementation/Testing/Release.
Strong experience in UNIX environments (especially
Linux). Must be comfortable using standard UNIX utilities to debug, trace,
and
problem-solve.
Familiarity with development tools such as SVN, CVS,
ant, make, etc.
Strong working knowledge of software build and release
management processes, including direct experience with Maven or
CruiseControl.
Self-motivated, dynamic, organized, and responsible,

Financial Software Experience
Understanding of FIX protocol
Some Perl and/or Java programming experience.
Experience with and understanding of databases (Oracle,
SQL).
