We need 2 Java Developers for a long term indefinite (12-24 month) contract with our very good direct client in Lansing, MI. We have a great relationship with them and the right candidate means a confirmation in a timely fashion.
Will work with their eCommerce development team that handles all high end maintenance of existing Java based eCommerce sites and portals. They need a mid to upper level developer to contribute to the maintenance development effort and help guide some of the more junior members of the team. Required: * 5+ years of Java Development * BEA WebLogic 8.1 * JDK * Portal experience * Oracle 9 Desired: * Rational Tools (ClearQuest, ClearCase, Rational Rose) * Jbuilder Here's a checklist to determine if their Java coding skills are sufficient: Check Skill Java Programming Is familiar with the various command-line tools that ship with the standard Java Development Kit (JDK) Has familiarity with the java.lang, java.util, and java.io packages that ship with the core JDK. Can create classes with instance variables and methods. Can create custom packages. Can make use of classes from other packages. Can code a main method with input parameters. Can name the standard primitive data types. Understands the difference between primitive and reference/class types. Understands when to use instance and local variables. Understands the difference between private and public methods and variables. Understands the meaning of the static key word and can apply it appropriately. Can perform basic string manipulation. Can perform basic mathematical functions. Can code branching statements using if and switch statements. Can code looping statements using while, for, and do. Can perform simple input/output using the classes in the java.io package. Can store/retrieve objects in simple, one-dimensional arrays. Can create simple swing applications using panels and custom components. Can navigate through Java documentation. JBuilder IDE Can compile and build the application. Can run the application in both debug and standard modes. ClearCase Source Control Can check files in/out. Can hi-jack files when required. Can compare current files to previous versions. Can un-checkout files when required. The rate is flexible but we are trying to keep it around $40hr. Non locals are okay as long as they are willing and able to do a phone screen first followed by an in-person interview prior to confirmation.
