Venkat,
Sounds like an incomplete shutdown has occurred. If possible I'd
shutdown the database and reboot the server. Also look in your alert
log for signs of the problem. Possible one or more datafiles are being
slow to respond during the startup sequence. Have seen that one time
when a drive was failing, but just would not roll over. If it's a Unix
server check the system console, there may be a bunch of messages there.

Dear List, I'm getting ORA-01403 error while starting the Oracle
Database. I'm
able to connect thru server manager. The status from V$database says the
database is open for read/write, but from SQL*plus or anyother client I
cannot
connect, the error message is Oracle shutdown or initialiazation in
progress.
